Subject Verb Agreement
Number: To make sure your subjects and verbs agree, you must first know the "number" of your subject.| If subject of the sentence is singular, then the verb must also be singular. Likewise, if the subject is plural the verb must be plural. |
Simple you say? Well here is the tricky part.
| We know the subjects are nouns and pronouns. | |
| We know that nouns are usually formed by adding s or es although some have irregular forms (example: mouse/mice; foot/feet). | |
| We know that pronouns have their own plural forms (example: I, he, she, and it are singular but we and they are plural). |
But, did you know that most verbs form their singular by adding s. Yes, you heard correctly - most verbs are made singular by adding s.
| (For example : Singular: He was. Plural: They were.) |
Now give it a try by practicing these games.
Some of the sentences will be different each time you play. When you have played the game at least 3 times, read the information below.
