Compound Subject - Verb Agreement
When a compound subject appears in a sentence, the conjunction used will help you decide if the subject needs a singular or plural verb.
| If the conjunction and, or both...and is used, the subject is plural and you need a plural verb. | |
| If the conjunction is either...or, neither...nor, or the conjunction or is used, the subject closest to the verb will determine if you need a singular or plural verb. |
